Annual Council Meeting: making the most of your membership
What is Annual Council Meeting?
Annual Council Meeting (ACM), is a one day event open to all British Youth Council (BYC) Members. It is a chance for BYC members and Board of Trustees to come together to celebrate what we have achieved over the past year, and for our members to shape what our organisation will look like in the coming years, through discussion, debate and voting. Specifically, you will:
-
Debate issues submitted by members, and vote to decide whether or not they get added to the BYC manifesto which outlines everything we believe in
-
Elect young people to our Board of Trustees. Our Trustee Board is made up of young people aged 16-25 and the members elect the available positions at ACM
-
Elect our Honorary Presidents who are elected (or re-elected) annually and drawn from representatives of the three main political parties in the House of Commons. More info about how you can nominate MPs for these roles will be available after the General Election
-
The current Board will present their annual report to you, including an update on finance, outline plans for the coming year and give you a chance to ask questions about the work of BYC. This year we are excited to be doing this via interactive sessions on BYC strategy, governance, international work and a Q&A session for support workers
Based on feedback from members last year, we will also be giving more space to help you to link up with other organisations that you might want to collaborate with.
When is it?
ACM 2017 will take place in central London, on Saturday 2nd September.
Who can attend?
All British Youth Council members are invited to attend and each organisation has a number of voting and observing delegates they can bring, based on the size of your organisation. To find out how many young people you can bring, check the document here. All we ask is the young people who you send are representatives of your organisation and are aged 25 or under.
